Discover the new CodinGame IDE!

Since this week, the new version of the IDE is available. The previous version was already smart with autocompletion, syntax coloring and multi cursor feature... It's now even better :) We’ve tried to collect as many feedback as we can to make it the most user-friendly we can (and we know there is still room for improvement!) If you have not had the chance to try it yet, here are the biggest changes:

1. A LARGER CODE EDITOR:
We’ve enlarged the code editor to allow you to have more fun coding (you can even turn it into full screen thanks to the top right button).

2. LANGUAGE CHOICE:
You can directly change your programming language on the IDE.

3. TEST CASES:
You can launch as many test cases as you want, they will be added to the queue.

4. SETTINGS:
The settings menu allows you to access to several features like:
-the edit mode
-the auto closing strings
-the normal or expert modes (we let you discover that one)
-the choice of language (French and English available)

5. RESULTS:
You can now access to your score from the "results" panel and you can share your performances with everybody!

6. DISCUSSIONS:
We’ve integrated the thread to the IDE, so you can keep chatting with your friends while coding! :)

A big thanks to all of those who contributed and do not hesitate to share your feedback with us!

  2. Looks great, but it would be nice to have an easy way to increase the font size in the editor!

  3. Hello! I am new to the site and looks great and very interesting to motivate to practice a new language. However, I miss autocompletion in a similar way that Visual Studio or Sublime Text do. Is very helpful to produce fast and repetitive code (like loops).

    1. you can do ctrl+space.

    2. It works like a charm! However, it might be useful to introduce the existence of this shortcut in the tutorial, when showing the coding editor for the first time.
Thanks a lot for the fast answer! Very professional staff and site :)

    1. Thank you for letting us know. Anyone sharing the same view? Too much white?

    2. yes, Especially if we stay hours in front of it.
That's why the majority of IDE has a dark background, so that it won't hurt the eyes.

    3. I don't have this issue on codingame, but in Visual Studio it's only dark theme otherwise eyes will burn (after 8 hours of coding)

    4. Yes, a dark background would be great!

  5. Salut Claude,

The new IDE is great, But I have a request: Is it possible to add a button for testcase detail close to each "play testcase" so that there is no need to open a new widget and when we click on this button it will show, below the concerned testcase, a zone for the detail.

In this case it would be easy to compare between the solution and the code result.

    Merci bien.

    Ali

  9. Really great job guys!
I would love like in some code editor to have the option of changing the color of the background (like a dark theme editor).
It's because I have a problem with my eyes and I cannot look for too long to something to bright. And for me, the IDE is too "white". I would love a black one to rest my eyes.

    Thanks!

  10. We need a Dark Side Theme, if you know what I mean.

  11. I think the new IDE is really great! Thanks for that.

The only thing that keeps bothering me is that I cannot open a new browser tab with ctlr+t. Instead it swaps letters in the IDE. A feature I never used on purpose and that's quite annoying when invoked accidentally.
Is there a way to disable it?

    1. I see you could the use the feature to correct your spelling of ctrl/ctlr :)

Anyway, we could not reproduce. Could you check if you still have the issue?, if so please send your config (OS, browser version, edit mode, ...) to coders@codingame.com

  13. Can you have a dark theme IDE?
Can you have a way of cancelling `Play All Test Cases`? Example you have 4secs left and just realised you have passed the first two tests...

    1. A dark theme .. soon ! ;)
Actually you can stop `Play All Test Cases` (it stops just after the current play) and you can anyway submit during it!

  15. It would be nice, if the F# version could be updated. I run locally F# 4.0, and many things don't work on the CodingGame system

    1. Hi Martin,
OK I am making a note for F#. We usually update all our runtimes at once at least once a year, so it will come.
